What is the XRP unique address?
Unlike traditional tag- or memo-based XRP deposits (used in networks like Stellar or Hedera), you now have a dedicated XRP address just for your Uphold account.
This unique address provides greater flexibility, reassurance, and ease of use, ensuring your XRP deposits are credited directly to your Uphold account, with no need to worry about tags.
NOTE: The tag is still used to determine which of your cards will get the funds.
How can I see my XRP unique address?
The same way as for any other crypto deposit.
- On the Home Screen, tap “Deposit.”
- Select “Crypto network” under Crypto Transfer.
- Choose XRP from the XRP Ledger network.
- Your address and respective tag will appear.
Can I send any token in the XRPL network to my unique address?
No. Your unique address only accepts XRP.
Any other XRPL-based token (e.g., SOLO, RLUSD, CORE) will be automatically rejected.
What happens if I forget or use an incorrect tag?
As long as you’re sending the funds to your XRP unique address, your funds will be automatically credited to your default XRP card.
I still see the old deposit address, not a unique one, when attempting to deposit. Why?
That can happen for a couple of reasons:
- You might be using an older version of the app. Make sure to update to version 6.33.0 or later.
- You’re trying to deposit a different asset via the XRPL network (like SOLO, RLUSD, or CORE) instead of XRP.
Do I own the address?
No, the unique address is still part of our custodial services. While it’s assigned specifically to you to make XRP deposits easier and more reliable, Uphold retains control of the address.
For non-custodial and/or assisted self-custody, please explore our Vault or Uphodl options.
I’m trying to send funds to my unique XRP address, but it’s failing. Why?
This can happen for a couple of reasons:
- The first deposit to your unique XRP address requires a minimum of 1 XRP to activate it. Any amount below that will fail.
- The address is exclusive to XRP deposits. If you send any other asset, the transaction will not go through.
Can I still deposit using the old address and tag?
Yes, but we recommend switching to your unique address. If you use the old address with the wrong tag, your funds will not be processed.
If that happens, contact us here and we’ll help recover the deposit.
