2FA significantly enhances the security of your account. We strongly recommend you activate it.
What is 2-FA?
2-FA provides an extra layer of security by requiring a one-time code alongside your Uphold password to access your account. It helps protect you in the event your username, password, or email is compromised.
2FA Methods available
SMS (Only available in certain regions)
SMS 2FA adds an additional layer of security by sending a one-time code to your mobile phone via text, used alongside your login details.
Note: Only available to those with both address and phone number registered in the U.S.,U.K., EEA or Canada.
Authentication App
Regarded as the most secure option, TOTP stands for a Temporary One Time Password created by 3rd party authenticator apps like Google Authenticator, Microsoft Authenticator, or Authy. You enter these codes during login in addition to your Uphold password.
What is the TOTP Security Key?
The Security Key is a 32-digit code that Uphold generates when setting up 2FA using an Authenticator App. Store it safely. You’ll need it if you lose access to the authenticator app for any reason. (Although we can help you if you lose it).
