How to add/link a US bank account

Bank account funding and withdrawals are offered to all verified US users on Uphold within the supported countries listed here.

There's more than one way to link a US bank account and transfer US dollars into your Uphold account:

  • Connect via Bank Credentials authentication (trade instantly; sends and withdrawals available after 4-5 business days, once the funds are settled).
  • Connect via Micro-Deposits authentication (trade instantly; sends and withdrawals subject to the 65-day withdrawal restriction period).

 

Bank Credentials Authentication

1. Go to the Transact option.

2. Select the From option.

3. Click on + next to Banks

4. Select the US Dollar currency.

5. Select Make a bank Transfer.

6. To continue, choose View individual account. (This step only applies for the first time)

7.Your Uphold individual account bank details will be shown.

8. Initiate a transfer from your bank to your Individual Uphold Account using these account details

Account Verification

We’ll then verify your bank account. This usually only takes a few minutes and we’ll let you know when complete. 

Login through bank webpage

*if you are directed to login via the bank webpage, please ensure you also grant permissions to:

  • Account holder name(s) (This is necessary to verify account ownership)
  • Account number and routing number (This is necessary to enable money movement across financial institutions)
Names must match

The name on your bank account must match the name on your Uphold account in order to link the two successfully.

 

Via Micro-Deposits
  1. Go to the Transact option.
  2. Select the From option.
  3. Click on + next to Banks
  4. Select the US Dollar currency.
  5. Select Link a bank account.
  6. Tap/Click Continue on the Plaid menu
  7. In the Search box, start typing your bank name or go to the bottom of the list to find the option Link with Account numbers
  8. Enter your account and personal information information
  9. Authorize the micro deposit and subsequent reversal**
  10. Wait for the micro deposit to reach your bank account (Can take a few working days)
  11. Once you received the micro deposit, log back in and go again to your Linked Accounts page
  12. Select your account with the blue exclamation mark asking to be verified.
  13. Choose to verify your bank account.
  14. Enter the 3 letter code, first 3 letters after the #
  15. Your account is now linked. Happy trading!
*Important Information:
Microdeposits Reversal

**Plaid will reverse the micro-deposit from your bank account.

Funds Settlement

Funds deposited through ACH are immediately available for you to trade, but you’ll only be able to withdraw the deposited amount and related profits to the same bank account once the funds settle, usually after 4-5 business days.

Cooldown Period

The deposited amount is subject to the 65-day withdrawal restriction before being able to withdraw to external crypto or different bank accounts.

Names must match

The name on your bank account must match the name on your Uphold account in order to link the two successfully.
