To reset your 2-factor authentication (2FA), follow one of the methods below based on your situation:
I can’t access my 2FA method and need a quick reset
Resetting your password will also reset your 2-factor authentication (2FA). You will need to set it up again after changing your password. While resetting your password also resets 2-factor authentication, your account remains secure. We use additional security measures, such as trusted devices and selfie verification, to confirm your identity and protect your account.
If the steps above didn’t resolve your issue, try one of these options based on your situation:
I’m using SMS for 2FA and need to reset it
- Use the SMS 2FA reset form to initiate the reset.
- Once submitted, you'll go through ID verification steps before the service is reset.
I have the original 2FA Security Key (authenticator app)
- Reinstall the authenticator app on your device.
- Enter the Security Key from your backup.
- 2FA will be restored.
I’m logged on my old device (authenticator app)
- Open the Uphold app on your old device.
- Go to More > Settings > Security > Change to a new device.
- Enter the verification code from your authenticator app on the old device.
- Your security key will be displayed, along with a QR code to set up 2FA on your new device.
I don’t have access to my Security Key, but know my password (authenticator app)
