Your passcode is a 6-digit code used specifically to secure the Uphold app on your device. It is different from your account password, which you use to log in. While biometrics (FaceID or TouchID) are optional for convenience, a passcode is required to keep your account safe.
Is a passcode mandatory when I create an account?
Yes. To ensure the highest level of security from the start, setting up a 6-digit passcode is a mandatory step during the account creation process. You will be prompted to choose and confirm you passcode before you can access your new wallet.
Why am I being asked to set up a passcode now?
If you haven't accessed your Uphold account for a long period and did not have a passcode set up previously, you will be required to create one the next time you log in. We've updated our security to make sure your funds stay protected, not matter how long you've been with us.
How do I manage my passcode and/or biometrics?
You can manage your security settings at any time tapping on the Account Center (top left) > Security.
Here you'll be able to Change Passcode and enable/disable biometrics (FaceID or TouchID)
Can I disable the passcode?
To keep your account and privacy safe, the passcode can't be turned off.
What happens if I forget my passcode?
If you are prompted for your passcode and cannot remember it, tap "Forgot?". You will be logged out and required to sign back in with your full credentials (email, password and 2FA), after which you can set a new passcode.
