Before sending to an external XRP ledger address you will need to confirm if the destination address is ‘active.’ If the destination address is active, you can send any amount to the external XRP ledger address.
When sending to an external XRP wallet you will need the XRP address (25 -35 characters in length) and in some instances, you may be required to provide a nine number destination tag. A destination tag is not required to send XRP out of your Uphold wallet.
It is important to note: the first time you generate an XRP ledger address, that address does not become immediately, ‘active.’ If the destination address is not ‘active,’ a minimum of 10 XRP must be sent to pay the account reserve and activate the address, this one-time fee is required by the XRP ledger network and is non-refundable. It is important to note if you send any value lower than 10 XRP the transaction will fail.
