Why is Uphold no longer supporting accounts in Canada?
Due to recent changes in our operating environment, we’re no longer able to support Uphold accounts for Canadian residents as of June 11, 2025. We're actively working on plans to return in the future.
What is the withdrawal deadline?
Customers were given until September 8, 2025 to withdraw their funds - either by transferring crypto to an external wallet or liquidating to CAD and withdrawing via Interac.
Can I still access my account?
If your account had a balance at the deadline, it has now been restricted to CAD withdrawals only. You can log in and withdraw your funds via Interac.
What if I didn’t withdraw by the deadline?
Any remaining crypto balances have been automatically converted into CAD pending withdrawal via Interac.
If you did not have a linked bank account, your CAD is securely held and available for withdrawal
If left unclaimed for an extended period, we may be required to surrender the funds in accordance with Canadian unclaimed property laws.
Are there limits on CAD withdrawals?
Yes. CAD withdrawals are limited to:
- $10k per transaction
- $100k per day
- $500k per week/month
Will I still have access to funds held in Vault after the deadline?
Yes. If you used Vault, you retain access to your Vault balance indefinitely, provided you hold both of your private keys.
You may withdraw directly from Vault at any time via the Vault Recovery Site here, and following the instructions here.
If you wish to move your Vault balance to your Uphold wallet for withdrawal or liquidation, this must have been done before the September 8, 2025 deadline.
Uphold will retain its Vault key for 12 months after account closure and will not be able to assist with key replacement once that period expires.
Will I be able to use Uphold again in the future?
We hope so. We’re actively working on a return to the Canadian market and look forward to welcoming you back when we do.
