This article provides instructions on how to link payment methods like your debit/credit card, USD bank account, EUR bank account or PayPal/Venmo.
If you want to use other alternative payment method like Apple Pay or Google Pay check here.
- Depending on which device you’re using, follow the path below:
- Mobile - Tap Account Center (top-left) > Accounts.
- Web - Click More (...) (sidebar) > Linked accounts.
- Under My cards, click on the + to add your card.
- Enter the card details, such as the card number, validation date, and CVV.
- Tap Add Card.
- Go to Transact.
- Press Select source.
- Under Payment apps select PayPal/Venmo.
- Select destination & enter the desired amount.
- Hit the preview button.
- On the transaction preview screen click the PayPal/Venmo button and you’ll be taken to PayPal/Venmo’s login page.
- Login and select your desired payment source* (credit cards are not supported).
*Note: This will be the default source used on all future transactions. If you want to change your preferred payment source you must first remove PayPal/Venmo from your Uphold payment methods list and then link it again.
- Depending on which device you’re using, follow the path below:
- Mobile - Tap Account Center (top-left) > Accounts.
- Web - Click More (...) (sidebar) > Linked accounts.
- Under My Banks, press on the + to add a bank account.
- Select US Dollar.
- Follow the Plaid instructions displayed on your screen to connect your bank account. These steps may vary depending on your bank’s requirements.
Notes: If you are not able to link the account using your bank credentials, you can link it via microdeposits by selecting the option Link with account numbers at the bottom of the screen.
You can only link 1 bank account within 90 days of account creation.
Your bank account may be unlinked for the following reasons:
- Changes to your bank credentials (e.g., updated username or password).
- A connection update from your bank requiring reauthentication.
- An expired connection based on your bank’s security policies.
Once your bank account is unlinked, you’ll be prompted to reconnect your account on your next ACH deposit.
- Go to Transact.
- Press Select source.
- Under My Banks, click on the + symbol to add a bank account.
- Follow the instructions displayed on your screen to connect your bank account.
Obtaining a crypto deposit address
- Go to your Portfolio tile.
- Choose the crypto account associated with the asset you want to deposit.
- Tap on the ellipsis (...) or the additional options menu.
- Select Wallet Address to generate a page displaying the crypto address for that specific asset.
- You can copy the wallet address or scan the QR code if you prefer.
Additionally, you'll find useful details about the transaction, such as the name of your receiving account and the estimated settlement time for your crypto deposit.
Don’t forget your destination tag/memo when depositing cryptocurrencies employ destination tags/memos to differentiate transactions!
As of July 31, 2024, VISA has updated its policy requiring that VISA cards used for transactions within the US must be issued in the US. If you encounter issues while linking or using a VISA card, and you believe your card should comply with this policy, please contact your bank or card provider for further assistance
Manage or remove a payment method
You can easily manage the cards and bank accounts on your Uphold account using the app:
- Open the Uphold app on your device.
- Tap the Account Center button located in the top-left corner.
- Select Accounts from the options.
- To remove a card or bank account, tap on the one you want to remove, and then tap the trash bin icon on the top right corner.
