What you’ll need
To get started with Uphold, you'll need a few things:
- You must be at least 18 years old.
- Citizenship or residency in a country where we operate. Make sure to check this list to confirm you're eligible.
- The newest version of the Uphold app, available in the iOS or Android app store.
- Depending on your location we might also require a valid ID to get you verified.
How do I sign up?
Joining Uphold is quick and easy. It takes only a few minutes:
1. Open the Uphold app and tap the "Sign up" button.
2. To get started, enter your phone number. We’ll send a verification code via SMS or WhatsApp to your phone, depending on your country code.
3. Next, you’ll be asked to fill in your personal details including your date of birth, email address, physical address, and your country of residence and citizenship.
4. Identity verification:
a. If you are a US resident we will attempt to use Prove to automatically verify your identity. If your information is verified successfully and requires no updates, your can start using Uphold immediately. You will only be prompted to provide a physical ID and selfie once your cumulative deposits reach $5,000.
b. If you are outside the US, you must submit a valid government-issued ID and a real time selfie to complete your registration.
5. Verify your email address by checking the message sent to your inbox and clicking "Verify my email".
6. Depending on where you're based, you may be asked about your intended use of the platform, your employment status, and income.
